IP to SS7 Intelligent Gateway Services platform developed for TELUS Communications Inc.

Comlink Telecommunication Services is proud to announce the introduction of their IP to SS7 Intelligent Gateway Services platform developed for TELUS Communications Inc. This platform allows TELUS to access its SS7 LIDB database over IP. The service supports multiple IP protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP/S, and XML over HTTP/S and X.25 over IP. Comlink has also provided TELUS  with a suite of Client Side Modules that will enable the company  to seamlessly integrate its IP based applications to this service. ComLink's IP to SS7 Gateway uses a proprietary encryption layer to ensure data file transfer security, is scalable, and has a high throughput with a response time of approximately 1.5 to 2 seconds per query in real time.

"More and more enterprises are switching to IP networks for two reasons-cost and service quality. As a leading-edge carrier,  TELUS needed to seize this market opportunity to deploy new  IP services quickly. TELUS looked long and hard for a field-proven software infrastructure solution for their IP to SS7 back-office systems.  After evaluating several options, TELUS chose ComLink Telecommunications to develop their requirement because there was no unified  IP to SS7 platform  available for their next generation services.

The TELUS IP to SS7 platform is used to query customer phone numbers for a defined list of S&Es that indicate Call Guardian or a Toll Restriction.  Each month numerous records were pulled from the billing CDR data that were missing this basic data for processing. Previously this process required intensive manual intervention to process the CDRs for blocked numbers which has since been eliminated.
